Must-read before shipping: Five important considerations
Packing lists and categorized boxing
Clients must prepare their own packing list, plan ahead for items to be boxed, and categorize them accordingly. After packing, boxes should be numbered and their contents clearly labeled. Items should ideally be categorized by weight, with a recommended limit of approximately 20kg per box.
Special handling for valuables
Important documents, seals, bankbooks, gold jewelry, and antiques should ideally be carried as hand luggage or sent via courier. If you still consider shipping them in cartons, please clearly mark the box number and consider purchasing insurance for enhanced protection.
Packaging methods for glass and fragile items
Wrap fragile items individually with old newspapers and bubble wrap, and ensure the exterior of the box is clearly marked. Fill gaps with soft materials when packing to avoid damage from shaking or impact during transit.
Disassembly preparation for large furniture
For large items or furniture, you can wait for our staff to properly pack and disassemble them. It is recommended to empty the interior of furniture first and secure drawers or cabinet doors with tape. Modular furniture such as beds and wall units must be disassembled before transport.

Fees are calculated based on the volume (CBM) of the goods and depend on the destination, service type (FCL/LCL/Air Freight), and additional services. We recommend contacting us for a free on-site measurement to obtain the most accurate quote.
Are there any hidden fees?
We provide transparent quotes that clearly list all costs, including local collection, warehouse fees, ocean freight, destination customs clearance, and delivery fees. We will inform you in advance of any additional charges.
How long does the relocation take?
This depends on the destination. Sea freight to the UK takes approximately 6-9 weeks, Canada 5-8 weeks, and Australia 4-6 weeks. If you require faster delivery, air freight services are available, typically arriving within 5-10 working days.
How are valuables protected?
Comprehensive cargo insurance can be purchased for all goods to cover loss or damage during transit. We recommend declaring valuables separately and purchasing additional insurance; we also provide extra packaging protection for valuable items.
What is TOR (Transfer of Residence)?
TOR is a customs procedure for individuals relocating to apply for tax-free entry of personal effects. HLT is familiar with TOR application requirements for the UK, Canada, Australia, and other regions, and can assist you in preparing all necessary documents to ensure smooth tax-free clearance.
Can you transport vehicles?
Yes. We provide vehicle import and export transportation services, securing cars in standard containers for maximum protection. Both traditional fuel and electric vehicles can be safely transported to the UK, Canada, Australia, etc., and we assist with vehicle entry procedures at the destination.
What personal effects can be transported when moving to China?
All personal effects imported into China must be assessed by China Customs based on the type, quantity, and declaration status of the items. Customs will calculate the applicable import duties based on their Assessment Value and relevant tax rates. Therefore, even for used items for personal use or relocation, duties or VAT may still be incurred. The final tax amount is subject to the approval of China Customs.
